A total of 34 jobs have been axed at East Riding Council as a result of Government funding cuts announced last Autumn.
Initially, the council had estimated around 130 posts were at risk.
Most of the jobs were linked to fixed-term contracts dependent on continuing funding from Whitehall.
Council chief executive Nigel Pearson said: "We have worked very hard to keep the number of job losses to a minimum through maximising redeployment opportunities in the council and by securing continued Government funding for employees in fixed term posts."
The job reductions will reduce the council's pay bill by around 1.7m.
In addition, the authority has also cut senior management costs by over 500,000 by deleting a number of posts.
Mr Pearson added: "The council has kept the impact on services and jobs from the grant reductions to a minimum by taking early action top reduce staff numbers.
"We will continue to fully consult with the trade unions and the workforce on the impact of budget cuts."
